After a long hiatus, I finally made it back to my Starbucks in Farringdon, near my work. After I walked in, I was pretty much greeted immediately by the guy who usually takes my order and knows who I am, who I fondly refer to as Starbucks Dude (in my head, not to his face), with a hearty hello and an exchange of how are yous. Apparently he lives in East London and rides to work on his bike, and needs around a half hour to recover before going to work. After I ordered and went to pay, he told the girl at the register what I ordered (a tall hazelnut latte), but he told her to ring it up as a regular latte!! I saved 30p! :) That was so nice of him, and I was happy. When I went to pick up my drink, we chatted a bit and I told him how I had to play secretary for two weeks. Then I went to drink my latte and read some Bill Bryson.
So the moral of the story is: be nice to people and you might just save the equivalent to 60 cents on your already ridiculously expensive drink.
